Around 63 modern flats and residential units have been built in Warsbergstrasse, some of them for use as assisted living or multi-family homes.

Through a calm façade interplay of different openings and slight projections, the building conveys elegance as well as invigorating urbanity. The clinker brick façade lends the square and the neighbourhood a character of high value, while at the same time it is equipped with highly efficient thermal insulation. The clinker brick slips are executed in a light shade and characterise the city square with restrained elegance.

Residential complex Martini Park in Augsburg |

The aim was to combine a high-quality range of flats with timelessly modern architecture and economical construction. The new construction of this rental housing complex, with 265 flats, expanded the project site, which is characterised by old trees and two city streams.

With the use of brick slips in the façade design, classic-modern architectural icons such as Mies van der Rohe’s Villa Lange were taken up and a reference to the historical clinker brick façades, e.g., the factory castle in the textile quarter, was created. The clinker brick material conveys a sense of value appropriate to the location. The alternation of the materials clinker and plaster as well as the graduated colour tones emphasises the sculptural form of the buildings.

Inclusive living at Stinnestraße in Ingolstadt |

This project, with 44 flats, is intended to expand the possible ways of life and to create living conditions for people with disabilities that promote their independence and individuality and enable them to live a “normal life” in society. Living in the district should also be possible for people with disabilities and should not be a barrier.

The unique glazed ceramic façade on the ground floor makes the building something special with its colourful colour combinations.

New living area in Salem |

In the community of Salem, which consists of several sub-villages, an ambitious New City Centre has been created around the new town hall, not far from the castle lake, consisting of five building sites with ambitious design and architecture.

New building for Kindergarten |

A new building was constructed for the kindergarten “Die Murmel” in Freiberg am Neckar. The existing building of the day care centre had structural defects. Since a renovation of the existing building would be uneconomical. In addition, the demand for childcare facilities in Freiberg am Neckar has increased in recent years, with more rooms needed due to all-day care.

The kindergarten “Die Murmel” is to develop into a meeting place for children, their parents, and other residents of the city.

The façade shows a bright heterogeneous surface with our brick slips Emsgalerie, with large windows to support the brightness also to the inside.

New district at the Henschelstraße |

On Henschelstraße, a new neighbourhood with a total of 460 flats for about 1.000 people, two day-care centres for children, a neighbourhood and a youth centre were built on the 6.3 ha site of a former brickworks. To preserve this magnificent play of colours, a red and light brick slips were chosen for the facades of the buildings.

Compact living behind a green glaze |

When converting an office that was more than thirty years old into comfortable studios, many functions were combined into one compact residential unit. A bright green-grey façade gives the building a strong character of its own.
This remarkable building from the early 1980s has been converted into small but high-quality flats. The Jan van Foreest apartment building is located on the Jaarbeurs side of the station.
Developer MidNed recognised the potential of the building to convert it into 218 flats along a central corridor. The building was designed by StrandNL Architecture and Interiors and the project was carried out construction company Van Grunsven.
Instead of a standard cladding of stucco or ordinary facing bricks, glazed brick slips in various shades of green-grey were applied as cladding according to the architects’ design. This design emphasises the unique character of the building. The glazed ceramics create a reflection that highlights the curves of the building. The architects looked for the right gloss level and different colours for the tile strips, which were made especially for this project.
The glazed clinker brick slips were installed in precise masonry claddings that follow the round shapes of the existing building: a standing cladding on the parapets and a lying one between the window bands.
On the ground floor, the old façade behind the round columns was demolished, replaced and replaced by a new façade with signal black glazed ceramics outside the columns.

70-metre tower De Helix rises above the student city of Groningen |

The 70-metre-high tower functions as Groningen’s urban landmark and shows Groningen’s identity as a student city on the skyline. The building has the shape of a nine-cornered triangle and makes a spiral curve on the inside.
Councillor Roeland van der Schaaf also unveiled the name of the tower, which was chosen in a competition. The name “The Helix” was chosen from 435 entries.
The building, with a total of 222 flats, is located directly on the access road from Bedumerweg to Nordring and includes 116 studios, 96 two-bedroom flats and 10 maisonettes. The 22-storey residential tower was designed by De Unie Architects and built by Geveke Bouw & Ontwikkeling.
The use of the tower by the students themselves plays an important role in the appearance of the building. The residents’ own interpretation of the collective helix enlivens the tower. The fact that the residents open the blinds or not also creates a varied façade appearance.
A parametric design was used to create the façade. Design parameters such as colour, structure and gloss of the ceramic tiles were included in a digital script. In this way, a rhythmic and alternating pattern of ceramic tiles was designed, which reinforces the dynamics of De Helix.
The variously coloured white and green glazed clinker brick slips give the tower a constantly changing appearance with the reflection of daylight and the appearance of light in the evening hours.

Church, community centre and day care centre in one building |

After the demolition of the dilapidated district church from the 1970s, a new design consisting of a church hall, community centre and day care centre was planned. Cold-warm contrasts express the colour concept of warm larch wood and beige clinker bricks contrasting with cool exposed concrete and white plaster.
The church, community rooms and day care centre were enclosed with a uniform earth-coloured brick façade. It illustrates permanence and peace through the play of light and shadow.
Kamm Architekten won the limited competition announced in 2015 with a concept that brings together the church, community centre and day care centre in one building. The two-storey box-shaped volume is topped by the tower-like elevated church hall, which in this way creates an accent at the end of a street. A small open courtyard in the middle of the building is intended as an inner centre that can serve as a meditative retreat as well as a communicative meeting place. On the upper floor, the building opens up to a terrace here.

A new residential quarter at the beautiful Lindenau Harbour |

Lindenauer Harbour is one of the major areas of development in the west of Leipzig. Only four kilometres west of the city centre, impressive industrial architecture and directly adjacent to the Plagwitz district, around 470 new flats have been built. In future, small shops, cafés and restaurants will also invite non-residents to stroll and enjoy.
The project was awarded the “Sustainable Living” quality seal by the Association for the Promotion of Sustainability in Housing (NaWoh).
The façade was brick-lined with Manufacta Westfalen ziegelrot and joined lengthwise with a light-coloured joint and crosswise with a red joint. The brick look was chosen to visually reflect the history of the old industrial harbour. The buildings thus blend aesthetically into the popular Plagwitz district with its brick buildings.
An ensemble of a point building and an L-shaped structure was created that addresses the theme of living on the water in a variety of ways – from the orientation of the floor plans and the large window openings facing the channel to the horizontally structured brick façade. The two five-storey buildings are characterised by high-quality materials, generous open spaces and restrained elegance.
