Local raw materials

Regional Raw Materials and Responsible Mining

We source our raw materials primarily from regional mining areas. The proximity between mining sites and processing facilities allows us to keep transport distances short, thereby avoiding additional emissions. At the same time, this enables us to maintain strict control over the origin and quality of the materials we use.

During mining, we place great emphasis on treating nature responsibly and conserving resources. Land use is time-limited and takes place under clearly defined conditions.

Once mining is complete, the sites are systematically recultivated and returned to nature. As a rule, there is no commercial reuse of the land. Instead, over time, the sites develop into new habitats such as biotopes or forested areas.

Ecological considerations are taken into account even during the extraction phase. In consultation with specialized agencies and nature conservation organizations, care is taken to create suitable conditions for plants and animals and to further develop existing habitats.

This results in areas that can provide suitable living conditions even for rare and protected species. The temporary use of the land for raw material extraction can thus contribute to the long-term diversity of habitats in the region.
